Joseph Arthur Palliser Severn (1842-1931)
Painted in 1897, less than 3 years before Ruskin died due to the flu in January 1900.
This is a print from our collection, the original is in the Ruskin Museum, Coniston.
Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin was also home to Arthur Severn, who was married to Ruskin`s niece; they were Ruskin’s companions for the last 30 years of his life.
They inherited Brantwood; several of Arthur Severn`s paintings show views in the English Lake District; and surrounding counties, we have two fine examples in the collection.from our
